Forster talks about how people is unable to live without the machines and they started to conceive it as a kind of god.

nowadays we interpolate “the machine” to the technology….

we can use the technology:
as a tool.
as an extension of our body sometimes but it is not us.

but sometimes technology becomes our enemy…
we stop reading, listening, writing, communicating with others.
we stop thinking.

A UK science fiction TV show called Out of the Unknown did an adaptation of E.M. Forster’s 1909 techno-dystopia, The Machine Stops, on 1966-10-06.
