I want to generate a relationship between SHAPE and IMAGE, through a distortion of a material in order to decontextualize the image that we see instead of the surface. When we see something projected on a screen we add something new on a flat surface, generally, and we transform the way that we see the surface giving it another meaning, but what happen when we are able to transform that projection according to the surface?
The idea is start working with a grid and try to distort that grid with the mouse, because we know that an image is a group of pixels which conform a grid of little squares. Then, work with the image captured by the webcam and finally converting the interaction with the mouse to a physical interaction with the screen, which is a kind of elastic fabric.
I had search about projects that distort the image and I founded Deform V1.5.1. This is a plugin for Morphing FX, which makes it possible to distort photos and video. How does it work?
The user configures a grid, and depending on the complexity of the scene the user selects a grid with more or less points. Then the user deforms the grid dragging the nodes of it, when that happens the plugin creates a transition from an undistorted image to a distorted image to obtain a result like this:
